Since the ads were so annoying and frequent, and the app worked with my tv, I subscribed for a year. That was the most cost effective option to get rid of the ads. Boy, was that a mistake. They did a major update, and after that the app no longer worked with my tv. I emailed the developer and described the exact problem but received no reply. Now I can’t get a refund from the App Store, and I don’t have a working remote. I made the mistake of assuming the developer had basic integrity. I won’t do that again.

Too many ads to get anywhere if you’re trying to search and the keyboard feature doesn’t even work. The app also repeatedly asks you to subscribe. And for what? Features that don’t even work? Gfy, dude.

This is garbage

I went through multiple apps trying to figure out how to control my TV from my phone and I finally figured it out. I went through like five apps. None of them worked, and I all put them in a group called the failures. But. This app called Sam suggested this app I am on and I didn’t think much of it at the time but little did I know that was my answer so I got on and when I did it look like a remote, but just digital and then when I clicked one of the buttons, it said connect and it had a picture and an IP address that was exactly my IP address and before that I looked at my IP address for one of the last apps, I went through and it was still on the screen, and it was exactly the one and then I started celebrating because when I hit connect, it gave me a code on the TV and I got so excited because I knew it was going to work and then when I typed it in, and then I hit one of the top buttons, it happened on my TV and then I started dancing like crazy so thank you. Whoever made this app because you just saved a lot of ripping through. App Store thank you so much. I hope you reply to this and say you’re welcome because I really mean thank you and so I rate this total five stars awesome it was quick to working and it worked so that’s all I asked for and that’s all you gave me. Thank you so much.

Doesn’t connect, Apple denied the refund twice, but I don’t know why because it literally doesn’t connect. Good luck, guys.

The worst app I have ever used on the iPhone. I have had the iPhone since 2007 and this is by far the worst app I have ever used.

The ads were horribly intrusive. They came up every 2-5 inputs, so trying to type when searching on my TV with this app was impossible. It was a good app, even with the ads, for quickly going to a movie on my Apple TV account, BUT since the new update, the enter button is now behind the already expensive paywall. The hundreds of ads weren’t enough, apparently. Now, I can’t even use the app to select and start a movie, even if I have to sit through 5 ads after pressing a few buttons. This app is extremely expensive, by the way, paying up to $5 a WEEK to use your phone as a remote. There’s no way to pay for it indefinitely. The only option is for a subscription to use the app for a certain amount of time. As a software developer, there’s no need to keep charging for such a basic application.

Don’t get if you don’t have spear money They’re making you pay for a full access to remote. I don’t even get what it is about. You have to pay four dollars weekly for no ads. unlock full remote. That’s what I don’t understand. auto connect to TV that’s smart but still this app is crazy and useless. So if you don’t have spare money, I wouldn’t get this.

Absolutely god awful and a scam

The remote stopped working which I paid for and now they are pushing me to buy another remote just for my android tv… it was working fine until they decided they wanted more money from me … Very disappointed ..

They lock buttons behind a paywall so you can’t even use it as a remote unless you pay them. Don’t ever use this app, the developers are garbage people

Been using this as a backup remote for close to 3 years now. Haven’t really had any issues with syncing at all. Ads were annoying at first but I eventually paid the few dollars to not deal with it and it’s been amazing. Would love if they could add the option for a full keyboard as well ! Please devs take this into consideration! ♥️♥️♥️

Paid for this app and they decided to stop supporting android afterwards. Now they want additional money for a separate version. This is a SCAM!

I have to connect to the remote ten times before my tv responds to it. It doesn’t work half the time. Paid for a crummy remote app.

App works ok ( it’s not hard to mess up a remote control app ) but it shows a full length ad every FIVE button clicks! It’s absurd and barely usable. will be finding another

This app was okay. I’ve dealt with it for over a year. Every 5 clicks I got an ad. Went to use the app today and every click sent me to a screen for purchasing premium. Absolutely annoying why would someone download a free app to only have one click? Crazy.

I’ve used this app for years when my kids misplaced or broke the tv remote. Now all of a sudden, I can’t use it without paying to remove ads. I can move around with the arrows but every time I click the select button, a screen pops up asking me to pick a pay schedule and pay to remove ads. There is no option to skip or click no thanks to keep ads.

I try to use it, but it won’t work. Do not download. This is trash.

What’s going on I had this app for years paid for the no ads feature and now you updated the app and are trying to charge to remove them again and the structure and features feel exactly the same. sonymote switched to unlimited and the only thing different is the thumbnail and trying to make someone pay for what they already pay for somebody fix this or I will be reporting this to Apple and the BBB

Not sure I’ve ever rated anything before. This app made me find my remote. Two clicks to turn the volume up? Ads. Scroll right three time? 2 minute ad. Want to turn the TV off? Believe it or not, ad.

Used to be a good app until the dev redesigned it. Now it barely works. Also, quite often it pops up a message asking to download a different app for Android TV and blocks this app from working. I don’t understand how this got through the App Store review process.

At first when it was “SonyMote” it was perfect, you pay once and it was no ads and no lag to change channel. NOW after restoring my purchase, yes I received no ads but now the remote freezes and refuses to change my channel after 20+ clicks. I say save your money time and sanity and choose a different app, until the developers fix this issue.

I paid money in the past for this Unimote app so that advertisement wouldn’t pop up every time I click a button, now that I did this new update that’s required, ads are popping up again when they aren’t supposed to. This is the definition of scamming people for their money.

I paid for an indefinite subscription but after a year I started seeing ads again and pop up to buy a full version?

I paid for a full subscription to have no ads and developer changed his terms. All the sudden I can not use the remote without 100 of ads coming up. Very disappointing

Why did I start getting ads on this app again? I paid for the full version so I do not get ads. Very irritated.

The developer has changed the branding and increased the frequency of the ads. There are lots of ways to interact with a sony tv and I would just search for a different one.

Are you kidding me? A subscription for a remote control? If you don’t pay, the ads are so invasive that it’s not even worth it. Would rather get up and change it manually. Don’t waste your time on this ad filled nightmare.

Before the update I paid for no ads. Now after the update ads popping up again.

I’ve used this app periodically when family members lost my remote and I purchased the complete unlock to get rid of the ads they recently did a update and now charge a service fee and I can no longer redownload the app i purchased such a scam I want my money back.

Update: The developer reached out with instructions on how to restore the previously purchased remote app. Everything thing is fixed and right with the world. Initial review: Echoing what everyone else is saying. Paid for no ads and the newest update changed to Unimote with a subscription service.

This is the worst app I’ve ever used. I understand in order to use the free version, we have to deal with ads, but this app has ads at the slightest click, ex: if you want to increase the volume, you will end up clicking on a pop up ad first. It’s terrible. This app is an ad click bait.
